New season's targets / goals Empty New season's targets / goals

Hi
Well the new season is upon us, in fact some of us have started racing, but more about that later.

We have a few planned trips this year with Majorca less than 2 months away and then Mont Ventoux in May. Now although Majorca is pencilled in as a "training camp" we need to have a decent base level of fitness before we go, as this is planned to be a full weeks training, with most days up in the high mountains, if you run yourselves too low out there, due to a lack of fitness, you risk the problem of injury or a nasty cold/chest infection when you return to the UK - this isn't what we need after shelling out on a week in Majorca.

Mont Ventoux - this is a serious, no, savage mountain, some of us are attempting the 3 ascents in a day, with some happy to undertake just 1 climb, this is by no means an easy option! Whatever we attempt on Ventoux we need to have a serious level of fitness to take this on.

This leads me on to this weekends Club run on Saturday and Sundays spin class with Angie:

Saturday Only Tel turned up, Sarah & I were away racing so apologies from us.
Sunday Only Tel and G1 turned up again Sarah & I were away racing.

I know weekends are precious and we cannot all make all of the "training" events but Angie is kindly putting herself out adding a "Special" spin session followed by a Pilates class for TA and close friends but we need to all make use of these sessions, surely everyone taking on Ventoux should at least be attending the Spin class on Sunday's.

Preparation now will reap huge benefits later.

Regards Tony

Well i'd like to say i was very disappointed at not being able to make sundays spin/pilates as altho its f#in hard the benefits are many! Very Happy (my car wouldn't start which adds to the list of bad luck i've had recently but anyway i did phone in and report my absence!) These classes are great (the one i did in ports ff instead wasn't as good) so wouldn't want them to stop thanks bounce

Hi Tony,
As you know I am desperate to come to training but am training to do doggie styling right now (!) ...it's my last week next week but then I have to set up the business.
I was already concerned about my fitness level or all the things we have planned to do and now thats gone supersonic! Shocked
I am wondering if maybe I should reconsider France?

No, definitely no need to reconsider France Helly I climbed Ventoux after I'd only been cycling for 2 years - I didn't have a lifetime of tennis playing behind me - I'd only been going to the gym for about a year before that just generally keeping fit (previous to that I did sweet FA). So if I can climb it with that level of fitness then so can you.

Whilst I know you want to climb Ventoux "the Cingles way" rather than think of it as a failure if you don't climb it 3 times in one day think of it as it is - a great achievement to climb it once - anymore than that is a bonus. Try not to put so much pressure on yourself - think of it as a long weekend away with a bit of tough cycling included. As Tony always says.... it's gotta be fun....

Besides - you don't want to miss out on the Abba singing now do you!!!

love & hugs and good luck tomorrow

Sx

No way do you drop France. Your fitness level is ok, you have got a good base to work with, and Majorca (Mallorca) will set you up good and proper.

Although we are all going with the intention of doing three climbs some might note make it. I for one have no idea what the climbs are like so will make the final call when I get there. It is an iconic mountain, just to experience what the tour guys endure is reason enough to go.

Anyway I need my Frida, I'm coming out of reclusion for this!

Take care mate. Good luck with your final week.

A x

P.S. Doggy Styling you do know how wrong that sounds Shocked
