New Forest Reliability Ride Feb 17th

Post  Tony on Mon Jan 28, 2013 11:43 am

Hi all

I received this that looks pretty good - read below:

Dear Club Secretaries/Representatives,
Could you please take the trouble to circulate the following to your members.
Yours sincerely,
Bob Jolliffe (New Forest Cycling Club)
New Forest Cycling Club is offering cyclists an opportunity to get in some tough training miles around its “patch” and do others some good by staging a CHARITY RELIABILITY TRIAL on Sunday, February 17th.
While final details have yet to be decided, two scenic routes will be on offer: one of about 50 miles in 4 hours, 3 hours 30 minutes or 3 hours, and one of about 75 miles in 6 hours, 5 hours or, for the real toughies, 4 hours, all starting and finishing at East Boldre Village Hall, Main Road, East Boldre near Beaulieu.
The entry fee of £5 will go towards sending UK Transplant Sport’s Great Britain & Northern Ireland team to the WORLD TRANSPLANT GAMES in Durban, South Africa at the end of July.
New Forest CC veteran and kidney transplant recipient Bob Jolliffe is a member of that team and will be competing in the 60-plus age group time trial and road race. This follows qualifying with silver medals in the two disciplines (ages 50-59) in the UK Transplant Games in Kent last August.
The cost to each GB&NI team member is in excess of £2,000 when flights, insurance and hotel bills etc are taken into account. More money is required to send team medics and support staff.
In addition to contributing through the entry fee, those taking part in New Forest CC’s Charity Reliability Trial will also be able to raise sponsorship money for their own favourite good causes, or contribute extra to the Transplant Sport UK charity at www.justgiving.com/Robert-jolliffe1 .
Link in to that same site for more information about Bob’s quest.
Entries please on a sheet of paper with names and addresses, emergency contact details, club membership, distances/times entered, and cheques for £5 per rider made out to “New Forest Cycling Club”.
Send them to Bob Jolliffe, Sweetbriar, Vicarage Lane, Hordle, Lymington, Hants SO41 0HS by Wednesday, February 13th. Telephone him on 01425 616525 for more information.
The 75-mile start time is 9am and the 50-mile start time 9.30am
Please allow adequate time for signing on at the headquarters.
The only prize is the warm glow of satisfaction after completing your chosen course, safely, in a given time, and helping others.

NOTES:
Marshals will not be present. This is a “Reliability Trial” after all. Entrants will be provided with a list of place names and OS references at the headquarters before they set out. Ordnance Survey Landranger Sheets 184, 195 and 196 are recommended.
This is not a race. Riders should complete their trials in plus or minus five per cent of their selected time, ie to qualify for 75 miles in five hours (15mph) you should complete the course in between 4hr 45min and 5hr 15min.
Refreshments will be available on completion.
New Forest CC accepts no liability. Entrants are recommended to have insurance with CTC or British Cycling.
