The Yanks Last Club Ride
Shortly our honorary brit is returning to the other side of the pond.
I thought a last ride with the gang would be a nice send off for him.
I have found a gorgeous top secret quintessential English hamlet with cricket green and family run pub that does fab nosh (not the Bat and Ball).
I have established when the village has a home game and thought it would be cool to cycle there - 40miles from Cosham - have some food and drink and watch some cricket then cycle home.
The suggested date that ties in with mike is saturday 13th August.
I can book tables and if it rains we can drive there.
Mike actually travels back to the dark side the following week.
What i need to know is who is up for it?

Hi y'all
Sounds like a really nice idea as Helly & Tel have said, but I think 40 miles each way will be too far for some of our club members, me included !!
Can we organise something a bit closer if we want the majority of the club to attend
Regards

yes to yanky bye byes
Jon, Tom and I would love to come (with Tom on the back of the tandem) - we couldn't do that far with Tom on the tandem but if need be we would have to drive there.
We do could do 20 miles each way tho.

A very nice idea Helly, however, I think there is a TA time trial on in the morning, at least that's what was bantered around the pub this evening. As the total ride will be 80 miles, to include the ride home, I too think it is a titchy bit too far.

I have to agree with whats already been said - lovely idea but too far for me! And I think once i'd eaten lunch i wouldn't be looking forward to cycling 40m home, sorry. Would the bat and ball not be a good alternative?

Re: The Yanks Last Club Ride
Dear All,
Points taken, however I had already spoken to Mike and this is a lovely English place and he is keen to go. It's somewhere he has not been and is steeped in history.
...so let's not cycle - lets drive there!
That way, the TT can be done in the morning for those who want to do it (possibly including Mike) and then we can go have lunch and watch cricket. Cycling, food, drink and entertainment...what could be better?
We can split the driving so that most can drink.

Update
OK folks,
Having spoken to mike and taking everything into consideration it has been decided to meet after the TT between 12 and 12:30 at the Wheatsheaf Botley Road, Wickham - the one near the vineyards. We will eat there if they are serving lunch or just have a drink and cycle off somewhere else for food. A pub cycle crawl may develop afterwards!
Here is a map for directions.
Please pass this on.
Same date as before - Sat 13th August.
