Re: Monday 02 April 2012 pub
lo all,
claire and i can't make it ce soir, not for the usual reason like working late but we're presently mouse hunting
yes really.
we discovered we had a mouse before and said we would humanely evict it in the warmer springtime. It was living in our garden wall and feeding on the bird food split from the feeders we have hangin up. well, 2 days ago we saw the mouse but it was smaller, quite a bit smaller. so much so we soon realised that it probably wasn't the original mouse. Indeed a bigger one followed the samller one out of the wall cavity. Then 2 more little ones.... hey ho, off to scats we went. Inbetween the gallon containers of rat poison, mink and man-traps we purchased some humane mouse traps. After baiting them with cholocate and nutrigrain bars we still had no mice a quick bit of googling revealed that we had deer mice and thay they weren't interested in processed foods (only heathly mice in our house) but preferredd seeds and grains. So we rebaited with bird food (?!?) and duely caught mummy mouse last night. she was put in a small fish tank with bedding, food and some apple in our outhouse. I got daddly this morning and he joined mummy mouse in the fish tank for some food and probably a good bonking (well, they are mice y'know..).
so we can't get to the pub 'cos we need to catch the baby critters (they are very cute ) and reunite the family so we can release then into the wild sufficiently far from our house.
hopefully see you all soon!

one left!!!! this one is wise to the traps now and is also quite elusive so we only see it fleetingly
managed to repatritiate one with the woodland ( im ade him/her a litle house out of a small cardboard box and filled it with food and bedding ) and we spooked another one which promptly disappeared under nextdoors gate and never (seemingly) returned.
claire's friend at work said they might be the type of moosse that limits it's numbers according to the availability of food which means that we shouldn't hopefully get zillions.
so, we might need to clear the last one off but if it doesn't go for the tipper trap we'll probably leave it for awhile as it's not doing any harm (only eats bird food and doesn't look interested in approaching the house). not sure we want to buy a deaderer mouse trap or posion the little critter
not around tomorrow but will hopefully make it next sat and monday before y'all depart for mallorca
