Mont Ventoux Travel 2 - It would be nice but..............

So, although we decided that the minibus would be the preferred mode of transport it would appear that you do need a tacho, no I'm not carrying on with Cathy's food around the world theme, a tacho drivers card. At a cost of £38 each it seems pointless.

On that bombshell we will now require 3 cars to transport 10 people, no bikes (these are going up in the van with............ you know the rest). Suggested jalopies so far are Matt with his brand spanking new one, Luke with his not so brand new but still spanking and Chris with his well let's just spank him.

Suggested car shares, only because of locations could be;


Matt, Tim, HTT

Chris, G2, Mike

Luke, Helly, G1 and me

This would also mean that everyone would have to share driving unless the car owner doesn't want his car to be driven by maniacs. Each car now needs to decide when they travel.

We can still hire a 7 seater but that would work out at £80 each for the 7 travelling in said car before we even add petrol and tunnel and toll but it would mean only two cars instead of three. Just another thought.

Well done for looking so hard Angie, not sure if anyone else has found anything cheaper - the price to beat all inclusive would be £700 for bus including all charges but excluding fuel and tolls.

I suggest if we have not spotted any better deals by the end of the week we start booking cars on the tunnel - we could still all go in convoy and join in communal singing over mobile phones.....or may be not!

We should work out who is sure they're coming - possibly share cost of tunnel booking at the outset as a deposit, looks like we would still have 2 spare seats for any tail end charlies.

I haven't heard much about accommodation at the other end, was Sarah looking into this?

So now we just need to start going up and down Portsdown hill a few times as a warm up then off to Harting for a beasting!
